Biography

Jamyest Williams joins the Tucson Sugar Skulls for his second professional season in the IFL.

At Georgia State, Williams transitioned from the secondary to running back in 2020 and quickly made an impact. Over 29 games, he rushed for 1,559 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 6.0 yards per carry. In 2021, he earned All-Sun Belt honors, rushing for 859 yards and nine touchdowns, including back-to-back 100-yard games. He added 447 yards and two touchdowns in 2022, with a 5.3 yards per carry average. Williams ranks fourth on the GSU career rushing list and was known for his big plays, including a game-winning touchdown against Georgia Southern.

Before transferring to Georgia State, Williams played two seasons at South Carolina, primarily in the secondary. He totaled 70 tackles and three interceptions in 19 games, earning SEC All-Freshman honors in 2017. As a freshman, he made 38 tackles and two interceptions, with a career-high 10 tackles against Texas A&M. Despite a shoulder injury in 2018, Williams continued to contribute in his sophomore year before transferring to Georgia State.
