Biography

Davonte Sapp-Lynch returns for his second season with the Sugar Skulls in 2025.

Sapp-Lynch is a seasoned veteran in the IFL, known for his versatility and dynamic playmaking ability. In 2024, during his first season with the Tucson Sugar Skulls, he made an impact in just nine games, recording 406 rushing yards on 78 attempts and nine rushing touchdowns, earning the #11 spot on the league’s rushing leaderboard. Sapp-Lynch also contributed 16 receptions for 125 yards and two receiving touchdowns, along with 211 kick return yards, including a season-long return of 34 yards. He added two tackles to round out his contributions.

Before joining the Sugar Skulls, Sapp-Lynch played for the Vegas KnightHawks, the San Diego Strikeforce, the Spokane Shock, and the Nebraska Danger. In 2019, while with the Nebraska Danger, he earned All-IFL honors and was named the league’s most dynamic player. His professional career began overseas in Germany, where his performance caught the attention of the NFL and CFL. He earned tryouts with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and the BC Lions of the CFL.

At the collegiate level, Sapp-Lynch set a team record with 777 rushing yards and three touchdowns at the University of New Mexico Highlands. Before transferring, he was an all-conference selection at Contra Costa Junior College, where he rushed for nearly 1,500 yards as a sophomore. A native of Oakland, California, Sapp-Lynch attended Sheldon High School.
