Tucson, AZ - The Sugar Skulls will look to get back on track at Tucson Arena when they face off with the Knight Hawks.
David vs Goliath
Having yet to click on all cylinders this season, the Sugar Skulls come into this one with another hefty task on their hands. Fresh off of scoring a whopping 68 points in a narrow four-point victory over the San Diego Strike Force, the 7-0 Vegas Knight Hawks are the only remaining undefeated team in the Indoor Football League.
Indeed, the Sugar Skulls will be required to put forth their best effort of the season up to this point and it all falls on the shoulders of a well-balanced performance on both sides of the ball.
On the Right Side of History
Despite coming up short in their last meeting with the Knight Hawks last season in a 34-40 thriller, it has been the Sugar Skulls that have come away with wins in three of their four matchups all-time versus Vegas. Within the confines of Tucson Arena, the Skulls have posted a 1-1 record against the Knight Hawks. Fingers crossed, Tucson can use their historical dominance over Vegas and put one in the win column on Saturday evening.
Johnny-On-The-Spot
Generating close to full health for the first time in weeks, there is no excuse for Tucson to come storming out of the gates on Saturday in an attempt to punch Vegas square in the jaw. More than likely, it will be the Sugar Skulls who will play as the more desperate team in an attempt to avoid beginning the season with a 1-6 record.
With that added motivation, finding creative ways to get into the endzone will be critical. Last weekend, the return of QB Mylik Mitchell under center was a sight for sore eyes, and another week at full health should do wonders for the Tucson offense. After generating a measly three points in the first quarter against the Arizona Rattlers, don't be shocked if Tucson makes it a priority to light up the scoreboard in the early going.
