PREVIEW: TUCSON HOSTS SAN DIEGO LOOKING FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

The Tucson Sugar Skulls are in search of their third consecutive win on Saturday night in the Boneyard.

TUCSON - The Tucson Sugar Skulls will host the San Diego Strike Force on Saturday night in the Boneyard at 6:05 pm. Tucson is in search of their 3rd consecutive victory and second straight at home.

The Tucson Sugar Skulls pulled off a massive home win against the Gladiators on Saturday evening in the Boneyard by a final score of 47-43.

Duke City was on the brink of taking the lead as the time expired, as their rush attempt fell just short of the goal line and resulted in a fumble that was recovered by the Skulls in the endzone to secure the thrilling win.

Tucson Tuff

The Skulls are 7-2 against the Strike Force all-time. In their last contest in April, Tucson lost a double-OT thriller by a score of 51-44 in the Boneyard. They will look to avenge that loss this week.

Tucson has now rattled off two straight wins in dramatic fashion, both against Western Conference foes. They face another in-conference opponent that is vying for their shot at a playoff run. If the Skulls take care of business against San Diego they would create 3.5 games of separation between them.

Suffocating Skulls

The Tucson Sugar Skulls are currently the 2nd ranked defense in the IFL, allowing just 39.8 points per game to their opponent. They only trail the Wranglers who allow 38.9 points per game.

The Tucson defense is paced by Rashie Hodge, who leads the team in tackles (43.5) and interceptions (4). He and JJ Dallas each have a team-best 7 pass breakups as well. On the front line, Maurice Jackson has been a terror with 5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss, each the highest on the team.

San Diego Notes

San Diego enters this contest 4-7 on the season with a conference record of 3-4 on the season. They are currently in a 3-way tie with the Knight Hawks and Gladiators for the 5th seed but hold the tiebreaker with the best conference record among those teams.

The Strike Force are quarterbacked by Nate Davis, who they acquired in a midseason trade with the Duke City Gladiators. Davis tossed five touchdowns in a narrow 38-36 loss to the Wranglers last week.
