GAME PREVIEW: TUCSON TO HOST NORTHERN ARIZONA

The Tucson Sugar Skulls will host the Northern Arizona Wranglers in a Western Conference showdown.

TUCSON - The Tucson Sugar Skulls are heading back to the boneyard to take on the Northern Arizona Wranglers after striking down the San Diego Strike Force 69-65 on the road.

This will be the third and final contest of 2022 between the Sugar Skulls and Wranglers, and Saturday will be for all the marbles. Tucson took the first match on April 23 at home against Northern Arizona, while the Wranglers rallied back 36-21 two weeks ago in Prescott Valley.

Where to watch?

The game can be caught on Cox Yurview Channel 7, and on the IFL's official YouTube channel.

Which strength will prevail?

Saturday's contest pits the second-highest per-game scoring offense in the IFL against the best defense. Tucson ranks second in points scored per game in 2022, while Northern Arizona gives up the fewest points per game in the league.

Tucson forced the No. 1 defense in the league to give up its season-high in points allowed on April 23. The Wranglers 72 points allowed to the Sugar Skulls was their most allowed by 38 points.

The Return

The return of quarterback Daquan Neal did not go unnoticed in last week's game. Throwing five touchdowns with zero interceptions, completing 12 of 19 passes. Mike Jones bullied his way into the end zone with two touchdowns against the Strike Force.

In Tucson's May 14 loss to Northern Arizona, quarterback Daquan Neal did not play due to a tryout with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts. On April 23 against the Wranglers, Neal threw for 156 yards and four touchdowns, while running for three more in the Sugar Skulls' 72-62 win.

Saturday will be the second-straight week the Sugar Skulls are looking for revenge over an opponent. Tucson got back at San Diego by a score of 69-65 last week after falling to them 67-66 earlier in the year.

Although defense might be the Skull's biggest struggle, Rayshad Jackson and Maurice Jackson each had two sacks apiece against the Strike Force. Bikembe Kearney totaled 10 tackles including 0.5 for loss, plus newcomer and returning Skull Cam Gaddis had six tackles.

This game will take place at the Boneyard on Saturday, May 28, at 6:05 p.m.
