GAME PREVIEW: TUCSON TRAVELS TO SAN DIEGO

The Sugar Skulls will look to get back on track with a win against the Strike Force.

TUCSON - The Tucson Sugar Skulls are set to travel to San Diego to take on the Strike Force in what will be the second meeting between the two teams this season.

The Skulls' three-game winning streak was snapped in Prescott Valley, and they'll look to get back to their winning ways against the Strike Force.

Tucson had their worst offensive showing of the season against the Wranglers last week amid the absence of starting quarterback Daquan Neal. They did not score a single first-half point and had a season-low 21 total points total.

Road Struggles

Tucson is 1-3 on the road this season, including conference losses to Duke City and Northern Arizona. They face another Western Conference foe on the road on Saturday as they travel to San Diego. This will be a prime opportunity for the Skulls to gain ground in the Western Conference standings and create separation between them and the lower half of the standings.

Daquan's Return

Sugar Skulls star quarterback Daquan Neal is set to return after missing last Saturday's contest against the Wranglers. His absence was felt, as previously stated when looking at the season-low in total points scored for the Sugar Skulls.

Last week did allow for rookie quarterback Gabriel Cunningham to make his debut. Cunningham put up 66 yards on 7-of-16 and with one interception. After a slow start, the team was able to score 21 points in the second half.

Round 2

The two teams already faced off earlier in the season, with the Skulls losing their home opener, 67-66. That was the Strike Force's first-ever win against the Skulls in five tries on April 9th in Tucson's home opener at the Boneyard.

Strike Force quarterback Steve Cluley is expected to miss at least four weeks due to a shoulder injury allowing new signee Gerald Kemp to make his debut in last week's game against the Las Vegas Knight Hawks.

The Strike Force struggled with turnovers with Kemp throwing four interceptions against the Knight Hawks. San Diego is ranked 12th in the league in both offense and defense this season.

Tucson's defense had been a weak point to begin the season, but progress has been made on that side of the football in recent weeks.

This western conference showdown is set to take place in San Diego, California at 7:05 p.m. You can catch the game on the IFL's YouTube channel below.
