GAME PREVIEW: TUCSON TO HOST NORTHERN ARIZONA

The Sugar Skulls will search for a bounce back win at home against the Wranglers.

TUCSON - The Tucson Sugar Skulls are looking to respond to some early season heartbreaking losses as they host the Northern Arizona Wranglers at the Boneyard.

Their last two losses have been by a combined six points, and each game came down to the final possession. If a couple bounces go their way, we're talking about a 3-1 team right now. Now, it's about execution and growing from those late-game mistakes.

Offensive Juggernaut?

The Skulls may be 1-3, but that doesn't mean they are struggling to put up points. In fact, their offensive attack has been among the league's best. Tucson is second in the IFL (only behind the Rattlers) for points per game at 50.0 through four games.

Former IFL MVP Daquan Neal has been sensational thus far. He's thrown 13 touchdowns to just one interception and has 19 total touchdowns on the season, with six of them coming on the ground attack.

Unfortunately, their defense is first in points allowed per game at 54.8. Every game has been a shootout on both sides.

Ground Attack

Mike Jones is tied for first in the IFL for rushing touchdowns with 8 so far through just four games played. He is tied with Frisco quarterback Justin Rankin. Jones scored 5 touchdowns in Tucson's home-opener alone.

Along with Jones' dominance in the run game, quarterback Daquan Neal has displayed his dual-threat ability as well. The former MVP has rushed for six touchdowns on the season to go with Jones' eight, combining for a league-best (for a duo) 14 rushing touchdowns.

Defensive Struggles

As mentioned, the Sugar Skulls have had a tough time limiting their opponents' offensive output this season. They have allowed a league-high 54.8 points per game to go with 245.5 yards allowed per game, including a league-worst 195.5 passing yards allowed.

They will need the defense to step up against a 3-1 Wranglers squad that has won three straight contests.

Kickoff is at 6:05 pm (MT) at the Boneyard, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a Sugar Skulls bandana.
